New Zealand's unit of currency is the New Zealand dollar (NZ$). Coins have values of 10, 20 and 50 cents, $1 and $2; notes have values of $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100.
Banking Facilities:
Banks are open from 9.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday, with some branches open on Saturday mornings. On weekends and public holidays, there are limited banking facilities ATM machines.

Credit cards, ATMS and EFTPOS:
All the major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, JCB and Diners) are widely accepted. You can use your international credit card at ATMs as long as they have a four digit PIN attached to the card. Throughout New Zealand there is a system called EFTPOS which you can use to pay for most things at the point of sale with your card - this is only available through accounts at New Zealand banks.
Standard ATM machines are available in most towns and credit cards can be linked to foreign bank accounts by networks such as Cirrus and Plus.
Traveller’s cheques are a safe way to carry money and can be exchanged at most banks.
